Science A - Interior (phase 1) Renovation & Repurpose
Completed April 2013
Role: Client representation, guidance, input, & co-ordination, site selection
Client: University of Calgary
Science A was technically the second building built on the University of Calgary's main campus and evolved into a science undergraduate and research building. An original atrium was infilled with classrooms several years after it was built. As a building that must remain occupied, the overall building renovation has been broken into several phases. The first phase involved the addition of some washrooms, the widening of a primary circulation corridor, the addition/renovation of several classroom, office, and seminar spaces, and major building code upgrades including the addition of two exit stairs and creation of a firewall between adjacent buildings.
